Adopting Children from Guatemala

CURRENTLY ON HOLD as Guatemala is not processing new US adoptions at this time as they install new adoption legislation and a new adoption authority.
God's Families has had a long standing program in Guatemala with staff first traveling there in 1999, working directly with our legal staff there, and this program continues to be very popular with families wanting limited travel and time in country, infants and private care. |
CHILDREN AVAILABLE |
- New born Guatemala infants available for adoption
- Both boys and girls available
- Private foster and medical care provided to child
- Photos and all available birth and medical reports provided including testing for HIV, TB, Hepatitis, and general health information

QUALIFICATIONS |
- Married couples
- Single (and divorced) women
|
APPROXIMATE WAIT |
- Child referrals approximately
1-3 months depending on referral request
- Homestudy/USCIS/dossier approval required at time of referral acceptance.
- approximately 6-8 months after child referral accepted parents take child home.

TRAVEL |
- All major US airlines service air travel to Guatemala City including American, Continental, United, Mexicana Airlines and Grupo Taco.
- In country for approximately 3 days total, one or both parents.
- Escorting is available.
- After family takes child to US Embassy, child and family can leave country.
- God's Families will coordinate schedule and travel and assist with arrangements in country.
- Family stays approx 10 minutes from airport at major western hotels.

REQUIREMENTS |
- All documents translated into Spanish (God's Families provides, included in Country program Fee)
- All documents certified on at state, federal and Guatemalan Consulate/Embassy level. (God's Families always reviews and submits all documents for adoptive families to all authorities requiring certification at no extra cost.) Cost of certifications varies from state to state from $1-$20.
- DNA test required by US Embassy for all birthmothers/children placed for adoption.
